Compression Test: Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA) Project Build

Miata compression check
Miata compression check

Is the Miata worth keeping? One of the first checks I do to a new project car is an engine compression test, which can give a decent indication if the engine is in good shape. The 1994 Mazda Miata has the 1.8 liter engine, so if yours is a 1.6 the numbers may be different compared to my results.

I have read a lot of forums and blogs and there was a lot of warning about checking the engine compression on Miatas. Concerns about ruining the engine and breaking the ignition module are put to rest by this real time test.

So what is the verdict on keeping the Miata? Check out the video and at the end the compression results and answer to the question are revealed.

Thanks a lot for watching and be sure to subscribe!
